No errors.
Laughed at Bill’s explanation of where “Old Hat” derived from.
I’ve UEY in several puzzles lately??
9:50, no errors
Uey goes in cycles. Who gets to decide on a proper spelling? Theme was clear. Only issue was RAYA…I had RASA at first and technically, UEY could also be spelled UE with a plural of UES! Then RASA would be ok but i know someone will point out that the clue wasn’t looking for a plural answer..Just sayin….
No errors…this is a Monday puzzle?
My paper doesn’t always identify the setter and so I thought David Steinberg or Jeff Chen but I was wrong.
Stay safe😀
Go Ravens🏈🏈
19:11. I’m back from Cuba where the LA Times website was blocked, leaving me to do the NYT crossword every day.
No real problems with today’s puzzle except the cross of 43A and 38D. Trial and error to get the ‘Y’.
14:48 – struggled with a fun puzzle. Mainly SW corner. Flew right thru 1st 3/4’s of it.
Didn’t know ZEST, GUY or FUZZYNAVELS and they were kind of bunched together.
@Eric – how was Cuba!
@Jack – your Ravens look for real!
Be Well.
Hi Billy. There is a medical error in 5 down for January 22, 2024. The hamstrings are not tendons, they are muscles. A tendon attaches the muscles to bone. The three hamstring muscles are named: The Semitendinosus, the
semimembranosus and the biceps femoris.
You could correct this by your answer being “muscle“. I love your puzzles!
@Donna Oliver …
This web site would seem to both agree and disagree:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamstring
Opening sentence: “In human anatomy, a hamstring is any one of the three posterior thigh muscles between the hip and the knee (from medial to lateral: semimembranosus, semitendinosus and biceps femoris).”
Final sentence of the next paragraph: “String refers to tendons, and thus, the hamstrings are the string-like tendons felt on either side of the back of the knee.”
I’m certainly no expert, but doesn’t this seem to indicate that there are both hamstring muscles and hamstring tendons?
I always spell Jack Paar’s name Jack Parr when doing puzzles. Then have to correct when doing crosses. One of these days maybe I’ll remember.
6 minutes 52 seconds, needed Check Grid to uncover typos in 5 entries (one word and crosses, essentially).
14:47, no errors. Took way too long in the area of ROUGHstart due to my initial fill for 57D being DEF instead of RES.
9:33 – no errors or lookups. False start: TSP>CAP.
New or forgotten: FUZZYNAVELS, RAYA, GUYS Grocery Games, “Triple G.”
Didn’t need the theme for solving, but it was easy to see.
An interesting spelling to use “uey.” It would be “uie” for me.
Fairly easy Monday for me; took 9:39 with no peeks or errors. Had to dance around a few clues but finally managed to get the banner, and without help from the theme. Didn’t know: EZRA, SAM, RAYA, GUYS
False starts: tsP before CAP, PArR before PAAR
