  1. Can someone please explain the BTS ARMY enlisted clue and how it relates to the Eminem song STAN. I don’t get the connection. Thanks.

    1. I guess the fans of the K-pop band BTS consider themselves to be obsessive and maniacal – like Stan from the song. (I hope they’re not!)

    2. @Christine (and others) – While Bill didn’t say so in his write up on this particular clue/answer it is also part of the online chat about this term that it may be cludging together (a so called “portmanteau”) of the words stalker and fan. Those who cross over into “stan” territory are obsessed to the point of being cult like in their worship of the performer or group they have fallen in love with.

  2. There were a few things I didn’t know, but the crosses solved them…except the upper right…just could not think of 9A which slowed me on 9D, 12D and 13D. Finally gave up despite getting all but 9A and 12D. Guess if I had I sung my ABCs, it would have hit me in the face!!!

  3. The top right did me in. Had no idea about adoba or tyson or osaka. Also didn’t know stan. So almost 13 minutes.

  4. Definitely trickier than the typical Monday. Finished without error, but a lot more ink overs than usual.

  5. No errors…there may be Nobu restaurants all over the world but it still gets my vote for obscure clue of the month.
    Stay 😀
    Go Orioles⚾️

  6. 18:15 – I will bring up the rear with this time today.

Like others, the NE corner did me in. Didn’t know ADOBO, TYSON, forgot OSAKA. Elsewhere didn’t know NOBU, forgot EPIPEN, forgot how to spell IMPUGN (aargghh). Just a bad day.

Got the theme very early but it didn’t help, as the crosses got me.

    On to tomorrow.

    Be Well.

  7. @Allan, @Christine W.
Bill explains it above. “Stan” has become the word for obsessed fans, like those in the BTS Army

  8. A little tricky for a Monday; took 11:31, with about 2-3 minutes in the NE. Had OSAKA and gel and ???EST for a long time. Finally took out gel and guessed AT BEST, which eventually got me the rest…tricky.

I see the theme now, but it didn’t play any role for me today. Learned about the KOA tree and BALI – although I guess that will only help in crosswords 🙂

  9. 8:06 – no errors, lookups, or false starts.

New or forgotten: KOA, “Kinds of Kindness,” NOBU.

Theme was “easy peasy” to see.
